today's project is an outdoor furniture set that I built from treated 2x4s. this was a simple DIY project that I was able to start and complete in a couple hours. with minimal tools, you can build your own matching set or modify them to fit your needs! #outdoorfurniture #diy #sofa #loveseat
The ultimate swing set!!!!
Переглядів 218Місяць тому
Check out our DIY swing set/playset. The kids have been loving it! This is part one of our swing set build, i've still got to finish up some guard rails and canopies over the top of the towers. All in up to this point I've got $1200 invested in the swing set. My goal was to build it for $1000. We got a little carried away with some of our accessories which is why we went a little over budget (w...

Hey guys, This was a fun change of pace, and i was able to save a lot of money by building this pergola myself! Not to mention i trust the strength and durability over some of the store bought options. The pergola is 20x12 and we have been enjoying it already. I cant wait to dress it up with furniture and a fireplace!!!!

Built in cabinets with continuous grain
Don't do that man you're ruining the snow that's a lot of street value man that's at least a couple of thousand for kilo😂😂😂
I could've routed this with my bosch and some straight edges lol... idk man seems like way overcomplicating what is a somewhat simple job. We have a Shaper at work and i've never had issues with it, but can imagine this was tough from the start and a big time investment.
You've got some serious skills
OMG the snow 😮😮
Very nice!
Thank you so much 👍👍👍
your before and after reveal of your bench's is like introducing your high school prom date to your gorgeous super model wife at your reunion. Well that is if they are two different people.
Love this comment 🤣🤣 appreciate the good laugh! Thanks for watching
I really like how you designed this table. I’ve been hesitant to build a true parsons table because the legs are typically flush with the table top necessitating a small gap for expansion/contraction of the opposed grains. Always seemed to me like a good way for my kids to get crumbs stuck in there. 😂 Your design is so much better. I like the look of yours better too. Great job. I’m impressed. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words, the notched tops are also cool but you're right about the crumbs
Trying to use this design for a pool table that will have to hold a heavy slate...(4*8 dimensions) I'm planning on reinforcing the table top frame with more wood. The question is. Will the legs hold? I was planning on using 4*4 pine posts for the legs. Or should I be using my 6*6s?
The legs will be plenty strong, the weak points will be the support system you decide to use. Id use half laps and then probably find some metal "L"brackets to reinforce everything
Thanks so much for posting, I had to watch it twice, b/c the toddler is so dam cute, if he was part of the attachments, I would really be happy😊, anyway, I bought mine last year/love it, just bought a new filter, I notice you have the blue one, I got the white filter one, wondering if I should have gotten the blue one, also do you use a bag, when using it for sawdust?
Thank you for watching and commenting! I do use a bag for saw dust. You'll want to have a couple extras on hand because they do fill up fast 👍
Thank you for the video! I appreciate your transparency. A lot of the UA-camrs out there edit out mistakes, so when we go to try and do a similar project and stuff like this happens, it is very discouraging. So I applaud you! Turned out great!
Thank you so much for the kind comment! My Hope with these videos is that I can help somebody else avoid the same mistakes that I make. Thanks for watching!
Try cutting the dados from left to right with the tape in front of the shaper. This way you will not be cutting through the tape. If the tape doesn't stick well to the laminate, try putting down painter's tape with the shaper tape on the painter's tape. Yes, the tape is expensive, but make sure you use enough tape. Approach the project in segments, you're cutting over a large area, focus on setting up for one or two cuts at a time. Good Luck.
Sorry but wrong tool for the job. You are cutting straight lines that any trim or standard router could handle with a guide.
Thank you for your intelligent and helpful comment
What about the filter? Keep it in for wet pickup?
I believe you want to take the filter out for vacuuming water
@@BuiltKnotBought Very good thanks.
I'm considering the Origin and soaking up loads of these videos, so thankyou for posting. And as someone who has had projects go fubar near the finish line... I feel your pain :[ My impression so far, is that Origin is great for fancy joinery and inlays, but for hogging out a lot of material in straight lines for tracks & such... a regular 1/2" router with clamped straight-edges is still the way to go. Holes & shovels as they say.
You're correct, it's a valuable tool and it can really shine for certain projects! I'm just hoping people can avoid some of the mistakes I've made
Nice, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words I greatly appreciate it 🍻
Atta boy!! Its BEAUTIFUL
Hey thank you so much 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I bought the same Jointer. But I did a few things differently. First, the box comes off easily if you just remove the bottom screws and slip the whole thing up and over. No need to break it apart. Second, I cringe at lifting it by the tables. It comes with lifting brackets and we picked it up by those instead, those two metal C shaped things. Third, my tables were luckily set correctly from the factory, and yes I even bought a long fancy $60 straight edge for that purpose. It confirmed it was correct. I am afraid horsing it around by the tables is causing the issues some have with proper table alignment. Best of luck, I love mine.
Water is one thing, but how about acidic spills like ketchup?
No issues with ketchup, from a house with two kids under 3 👍
Beautiful and professional!!!!
Thank you so much
@@BuiltKnotBought I’m actually building something very similar to that but just smaller made of pine wood
@@ilantwito cool! Good luck with your project 👍
I request help and support 😢😢😢
I didn't see what was so crazy
Maybe you would be happier using a good router with trackrail. Eg Festool
I think that would have been a better option

Awesome stuff man, Looks like I have something to do this weekend now! what stain/ finish/ sealer did you use?
Appreciate the comment!!! I have not put a sealer on yet, this is cedar toned treated pine so it comes brownish in color, im going to let it dry out for a month or so and then add a sealer!
I've never seen pre-tinted pine, was that from a big box place like Lowe's or Home Depot?
@@fenderfreak86 Yes, i got it from home depot, there are two options now for treated lumber, the original green treated, and now the cedar toned. It looks way better!
these are great! Where did you get the cushions???
Thank you we ordered them from Amazon
Not enough tape you, shaper tape is very easy to apply and remove from your project. When you do ha e delamination of the tape, it needs to be brought to 77 degrees or cooler. There is a help document on this on the shaper tools website. The best way to do this is to throw the roll in the freezer for about 30 minutes or so and tear a straight piece off and then proceed to and pull somewhat slowly from the tape . Also, when scanning, make sure you're scanning with good overlaps more the better and turn the origin and different directions here and there. Sometimes, you might need a little more tape in front of the origin to see , so next time, break your large projects down in sections and keep an eye on the domino read out.
Great stuff man! Was thinking of a similar thing for our front porch
You should make some! Just don't drill a hole in your leg
@@BuiltKnotBought I only did that with you around..... That's pretty suspicious
Great explanation and execution on the vid👌
Thank you Saul, i greatly appreciate it!!!

That looks sooo good - well done! Also amazing how you find time for all these builds, impressive. Keep up the inspiring work 😃
Thank you for the positive feedback I appreciate the comment! I spend pretty much every evening and weekend trying to get projects done 👍
Awesome build!
Thank you sir, almost as nice as your pergola!

Nicely done! Looks like a sweet spot for some lazy summer days (if you ever get those 😂)
Thank you! We've already had a couple peaceful evenings under the pergola! Looking forward to spending a lot of time out there this summer
Thanks for watching I forgot to mention the total cost of everything up to this point was around $1300
Beautiful!!
Hey thanks a ton 🍻
Menards is a treasure.
Looks great man!! Bessey makes some good extenders for their clamps, I have used them a ton and are easy and quick to get going.
I've seen them a few times, I'm not sure why I haven't bought them yet
Brilliantly done… One thing I would advise to look at the Lens instead of the Monitor as it’s kinda trippy and you will thank me later…
Appreciate the advice

Hola
That’s select fill not gravel, correct?
I just asked for gravel when i placed the order, to be honest im not sure what select fill is.
I just screwed those leveling screws into the plastic and it worked.
That turned out really nice, very inspiring for my dining make-over. Is it possible to have salvaged the original base by cutting a square insert with a matching outer angle, allowing it to still be flat for the round mounting part?
Thanks for watching, he's I suppose I could have salvaged the original base with that method 👍
You can get the same result and look with Formica.😑 If it ended up in mat then it would be different but it's just plastic over wood IMO.
Interesting ive never heard of formica!
Did you end up using the top coat? or just the hard coat?
Just the hard coat, i believe it is recommended that you use both
Really interesting video. I would love to see an honest display of your huge island after a year of use. Up till now for tabletobs I used only lacquer (applied with a brush). I love hard wax finishes but find them too weak for tabletops. It be nice to have wax and then nano even if it is pricey.
Ill have to do an update video soon, its not perfect, there are spots around the sink that need some love but aside from the sink area it has held up well.
@@BuiltKnotBought I look forward to your update
